A solid core of actors filled the bit parts and supporting roles that were essential in film noir.    For many of the character actors it was a career in  anonymity even though their face was well known to audiences.   Others alternated between more substantial roles.
Charles Bronson and Lee Van Cleeve were among the few who went on to become stars in the own right.  Nevertheless, this group of actors certainly made an important contribution to the unique atmosphere that was film noir never getting their proper due.
